Ben Pukas

Ben was born in the amazing city of Tampa, Florida where he was raised and received a love for the beach and the outdoors. He ended up staying in Tampa to get his degree in finance and economics at the University of South Florida, and to this day remains a die-hard Bulls fan. During his time at USF, he felt God calling him away from the business world and into the ministry world. Ben became a student pastor for Grace Community Church in Brandon, Florida, and a year and a half later moved to Dallas, Texas to be trained in the fellowship at Watermark Community Church for 10 months. Ben has a huge heart for students and for them to see that the abundant life is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ and that following Him can be fun and fulfilling, not boring and restricting.

Ben is not married but hope to one day have a family. He has a German Shepherd puppy, and she is like his child, and as such, is his family.

Ben loves playing and watching sports of all kinds, but doing things with people is what gives him the most joy. Whether watching movies (favorite movies are The Notebook and Remember the Titans), playing games or sports, or just talking, it doesn’t matter as long as he’s with the people he loves.

1 Corinthians

Corinth was a thriving coastal city that prided itself with its rich history, freedom of thought and eclectic population. It was a city that personified the description found in Judges, "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes." In this setting, Paul planted an imperfect church made up of imperfect people. Their struggle to be a healthy church is not foreign to us. As we look into Paul's first letter, we will learn how to "be the church" in our cultural moment. Join us as we mine God's Word for truths to guide us on the journey.

Faith Foundations

The goal of Bible doctrine isn't that we would know more (information) but that our hearts would be oriented toward a greater love for God (transformation). This summer we will journey through a series called, Faith Foundations. We will look at 12 foundational doctrines and their application to everyday living. Join us as we dig deep into these life changing truths.

Encounters with Jesus

What makes Jesus so different? Who do we say that He is? Why would He do that? Why does He need to be our first love? We will spend our lives getting to know Jesus on a deeper level. Is it possible that we have some preconceived ideas that aren’t correct? Let’s dig deep to encounter Jesus as we look into his life from the Gospels of John and Luke.

1 Samuel

The people of God struggled from the moment they set foot in the promise land, so God provided judges who would lead them in the ways of the Lord. Unfortunately, the external temptations proved to be too difficult, and the people continued to compromise and desired to be more like the nations around them who all had a king to lead them. The Lord relented and allowed them to have an earthly king, but of course they chose what looked like the best man but in the end proved disastrous. Join us as we journey through the book of first Samuel and see how God opposes the proud, gives grace to the humble and works His plan in spite of the evil ways of man.

Practicing the Way

Life moves fast, and so do we. Many people ask, “How do I fit Jesus into all the craziness?” A lot of times what we do is we make a list of all the things we're supposed to do, but this is not the way Jesus intended it to be. In our western culture learning has everything to do with information, but in the eastern culture where Jesus was, learning was all about becoming somebody or becoming like the rabbi they were following. And the way they became like their rabbi is they just did everything their rabbi did. They would walk so closely with them that they were just covered in their dust. So, how do we follow Jesus in this culture we live in? We practice living like our Rabbi did. We start by Practicing the Way.

Ezra and Nehemiah

All of us experience exile one way or another. But exile doesn’t mean God has given up; it’s actually the beginning of God’s great work to restore and renew His people... and through the restoration of his people, the restoration of the world.

Join us as we study Ezra and Nehemiah as we see God’s people return to the land to rebuild and restore what was once destroyed. Join us as we see: Exile Isn't the End of the Story.
