Fellowship Family,

These certainly are some unprecedented times that we are living in and it seems information changes daily as to what is being asked of us. The book of James has taken on fresh meaning when he exhorts us, “if any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Yes, Lord give us wisdom in the decisions and choices that lie ahead. We pray for our nation and those in decision making roles to choose wisely. We pray for the immediate impact on people’s lives, not only their health but also economically. As Christ followers, help us to live responsibly and have our ears and eyes open as to how we can serve one another in these days. Thank you that you are good and that the hope of the gospel gives us the ability to “give thanks in all circumstances”.

As elders we met last night to discuss how we should move forward. Due to the ever-changing nature of things it seems prudent to reevaluate how things are going every two weeks and make adjustments accordingly. That being said here are some of the decisions that were made:

Sunday Worship Services

We will not be gathering for corporate worship for the next two Sundays, March 22, 29. Instead we will produce an order of worship that you will receive by Sunday morning at 9 a.m. This will guide you through a worship service with links to songs, scripture to be read, video sermon, and questions to discuss. We think this will be a wonderful and easy way to worship, in an interactive way, while we can’t be together.

Community Groups

It’s interesting how times like these produce new words that a month ago would have been confusing. Words like Social Distancing now have full context and understanding. We feel this is a great practice for all of us at this time. In saying that, there are many interpretations of how this is applied. We will leave that up to each group, but there is wisdom in taking at least a few weeks off and then re-evaluating. We encourage you to be creative in how you can connect with one another.

Office Hours

The office will be open for regular hours. Monday through Thursday from 9-4. Sheila will be happy to assist you in any way she can. Some of you are already experiencing the repercussions of businesses closing. Our prayer is this will only be for the short term and the impact will be minimal. If we can be of any assistance, then please call the church office as we do have an FBC benevolence fund. We are freezing any unnecessary spending from our staff to keep things lean in the next few months. In times like these I think it’s important to continue giving financially as an act of faith even though we aren’t gathering together as we have on going costs and missionaries that depend upon us. Online giving is easier than ever on our website https://fellowshipsearcy.churchcenter.com/giving

New Facility

As we have communicated, the new construction has begun. We plan to continue moving forward optimistically cautious and are relying on the faithfulness of our body to continue to give toward it or start if you haven’t. Prayer

The Staff and Elders would love to be praying for you and your family. Please contact any of the staff or you can send an email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don't let your hearts be troubled or fearful." John 14:27

The opinions of what is going on are varied and the times require grace to be extended from all of us toward those who aren’t responding to the pandemic in the way we think they should. Each week we end our services by saying, Go Love First. Look for ways to love on others in this time and also love others by doing your part to keep the virus from spreading.

Love and Grace to all,

Doug
